Well you'd need to get your documents shipped to you. A UPS store may be? Anyway. Pretty sure there are no roads that way which don't go to Canada checkpoint. If you're on TPS you'll be deported.

There are many signboards on the highway that shows you are entering into Canada. Right before entering Canada, it says "Last exit" before entering to Canada. Once you enter Canada, you are stopped by a Canadian customs officer, and you must show your passport. If you do not have a passport and a valid visa, they will return you to US. Once you return to the US side of the border checkpoint, if you do not have a passport, they will hold you in their office. Once they make sure you are in US legally, they will let you go. This is my own experience.

Manko Sathi, sounds like you are in deep trouble. The only way would be as someone before suggested, get all your document shipped to you at a local Canadian address or ask some of your friends to hand deliver those to you on the other side of the border. But, still, as you mentioned, you are in trouble, because your visa has expired. Could you be more specific as what status are you currently in? I can talk to you DM me your number. Thanks!

A friend of mine entered Canada by mistake. He did not have anything except a university student id card. So the Canadian customs officer returned him to the US. Upon return to the US, at the US checkpoint, the guy explained that he entered Canada by mistake and the Canadian customs officer sent him back. Then the US custom checked his school id. They held him for a while, made few calls to different authorities. Once they found out, that he was a student in the US school and was in the US legally, they let him go. He did have a valid visa (unexpired), but his passport was at home.

If I get it right, " You have legal status in the US, but expired visa" This should be no problem. Because you can enter Canada or Mexico temporarily for a few weeks (I don't know exactly how many) and return to the US. Many of my friends have done this. This is totally fine. But, these friends were graduate students in the US. I don't know if the rule is different for different visa holders. So, what you can do is ask someone to drive to Canada and bring your passport with an expired visa to you. At the point of entry to the US, tell the officer that you went to see the Canadian side of Niagara Falls.

This is from the University at Buffalo's ISSS site, which says you can enter with an expired visa.

You are the first one. So don't freak out. Just explain the custom officer that you travelled mistakely into canadian border. That border is just messed up.

Yes, it happened to me and couple of friends long back, like in 2006 in Detroit side. We got into highway and exit, that didn’t have any way to make u turn at all. And we ended up little bit in Canadian side. Back then it wasn’t big issue, they just check our driving license and let us come back.

I think this is some made up story because: 1. You can not enter Canada via Buffalo directly from 407 (ETR) as 407 starts from Burlington Ontario at town which is about an hour drive from any Buffalo border crossing (there are 3, Niagara Rainbow Bridge, Peace Bridge and Lewiston Queesnston Bridge). 2. Having crossed US-Canada border for more than 100 times (yes more than 100) I'm not sure how your story is possible. In all three Bridges, Canada Custom is literally at other end of the bridge where they check your passport/visa etc. 3. You don't need visa to enter Canada if you have US passport or US green Card. It has nothing to do with 407 which is a private electronic toll highway. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ontario_Highway_407

Agreed with Jonny on 407 ETR. I too have crossed the border dozens of times and yet to see one that doesn't have customs or allows free movement between the two countries, at least in the Southern Ontario border. If there are such entry points, the risks are too high to each country's border security, which I doubt either country would ignore.

I think he entered grand island paying the toll and thought entered Canada. You can not enter Canada without passing through the Canadian immigration checkpoint. Those immigration checkpoints are clearly visible on the google satellite map.

Agreed that grand island can be confusing but he mentioned 407 ETR so. I understand you can take wrong exit and can end up in Canada, happens a lot but every border crossing has Canada custom/immigration where they send you back to US side without proper document.
