I am planning to visit nepal from US via london and come back agian after a month in this spring semester. At the same time I found that our country is listed in the DATV requirement list. There are also some exemption criterion. The criterion I am interested in is

c. a valid airline ticket for travel via the United Kingdom as part of a journey from Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America to another country or territory, provided that the transit passenger does not seek to transit the United Kingdom on a date more than six months from the date on which he last entered Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States of America with a valid visa for entry to that country;

I am in F1 visa and m family has F2 (of course) visa. Now my question is : Can we take transit via london during this trip without any hassles ? I am confused with that six months thing mentioned in the criterion. We have been living here since last three and half years and we have five years multiple entry visa. I am currently enrolled as a full time student. Response from experienced sajha members is highly appriciated. Thank you in advance.

do you have valid US visa?
meaning--do you need to go to the embassy in Nepal to return back to US?
If not then you have a valid US visa, and you will not require a transit visa.

But its always good to check with the embassy website...British Embassy or the consulate.

Just to let u know, it will be all fine as u have F1 visa and u are travelling from USA. You need to have roundtrip ticket to show in board of entry. My gf just went to Nepal via London and she told me it's no hassle at all. Hope this would help

Thank you everybody. Looks like don't need transit visa as I have valid US visa and will have airline ticket. I was trying to find some fellow who has gone through this procedure. Again thank you too Echoes for providing the link. Actually I had pasted the second paragraph of my original posting from a link of the same web site.
