i work in some motel in alabama. some funny things happen in my motel. it was around 4:30. the guy named mcdonald came in my motel. the motel door was locked and i deal with him through tiny window. he told me some story.why he had not wallet and money with him. he asked $5 from me.
he told me he was at bus station from 7. and asked so many people for help. finally he found some woman to help him. according to him his vehicle stop some where because he was out of gas. and he needed some money to go home. he asked 5 from me . and showed me the ticket and i saw his name on ticket and also he show me some other paper where i can see his name written in the paper. it was receipt for ADOC release. but i didnot get that what was that paper all about. and he gave me his tempoary id. and was willing to give all those paper and ticket. probably that was used ticket. i did not look at the date in the ticket. may be it was one year before.and he said i will return your $5. infact i will give you $10 then u return my ID. ha ha ha i smile at him i know that was complete scam. he was trying to fool me. and i know i was fooled by him. but i was happy being fooled by him. at some corner of my heart i feel like wow i just gave $5 dollar to that white person who was citizen of USA. the person was begging. I had never seen people like him. may be he was in real problem. but i assumed he was fake so i am writing this thread. and i am never expecting any return from that man. if he shows off again then i will delete this thread right away. if not it will be here. and i dont have scanner here so next time i will scan his fake ID and i will post here so that you all can see that. may be you all can see this person at some point in your life esp the people from alabama and who work in motel.
i think this is funny because the way that man was acting.and asking money. and i was fooled and i felt this is funny.
what you will have done if your were in my shoes????????
would you have given $5 ? just jot down few words.

i had same ..exactly same....moment..
we ( me and my friend) gave that person 20 (each of us donated 10$). ....actually it was so funny that ...that ...we knew he was acting and trying to fool us....but..anyway...he might have a very good night with some alcohol passing through his throat ......with our 20$
his reason was same....he lost his everything...he came to meet some of his relative who (he said) study in my university...and could probably lend him some money...but he couldn't find his so called fake relative...
he showed his medical bill....and ....tried to convience us that..he really lost his bag and wallet......
gosh...it was mid night just by the side of stadium of our university.......
anyway.....nepalicyko G, you remind me of my bad day...but same as yours.....i felt....not such pain as when you lost 10$....I helped someone so i'm happy......

Dude, It was great that you helped him out. If you saw ADOC release receipt, then the man is an offender who is just getting out of prison. either serving out or in parole. If I was you, i would rethink about scanning his ID in sajha, It is breach of his confidential information which might , im saying just might qualify you for your first felony in the US. Try to stay away from that guy, he is definitely an offender, you dont know what kind.Anyways it was very impressive that you helped him out, you will get it back from him if not a different source, KARMA. chao.

Its the same thing in london as well. I get asked for 20p,40p,70 etc almost everyday.
Some ask If i have a change for tener, if i said yes, they will pretend they lost that ten pound and ask for small help.
Its funny to get asked sometime, as some of the time i am just strolling around without a penny with me.
Intrestengly i have proposed some of the regular if they r ready to check my pocket and i will check there poket. whoever has more money has to share half of the money and guess what, they declined.
Funny world.

hey guys i am back again. after reading some responses. i change my mind i dont wanna scan and post in sajha . like garibkochore says. i dont wanat to involve any kind of felony. but i made a copy of that temporary id . and original is still in motel in front desk. may be this wednesday i wil go there and look for that id whether it is there or not. if it is not there i will assume he came back and got his id.
and i will be more than happy if i dont see that ID in the front desk. i will let you know about that.
once again thanks guys for your suggestion and your views.

Never lend money to people. Still if you really want to provide monetary help, do not expect it back when you hand it out to the needy. The anxiety of getting it back or not kills you more than the pain of losing that money.

I for one would just give the money if people were dead honest...Why try and hoodwink peeps when all you've done is cut out all future possibilites of using the same Avenue again? You live for today, you end up dying today!
The best I saw was a homeless white guy on a traffic-stalled Whitestone Bridge last summer. An honest guy he was...He had a sign on his chest that read something like, "WHY LIE? IT'S EXTREMELY HOT TODAY AND I'M TOO BROKE TO BUY MYSELF A CHILLED BEER."
...I shelled out a dollar right away!

Actually this hapened to me twice. Someone asked me for $5 so he could buy gas to go home. He ran out of gas on highway and has no money to buy gas. He asked me while I was in a gas station filling up my car. I gave him $5 to help him out and totally forgot about it!
Several months later ..... someone asked me for $5 so he could buy gas to go home. He ran out of gas on highway and has no money to buy gas. He asked me while I was in a gas station filling up my car. I gave him $5.00 to help him out and was thinking back in my head that I had heard similar story before, but could not recall right away.
It was only a few hours later, I realized it was the same person in the same gas station telling me the same story asking for same amount of money! When I remembered the previous incident, I felt totally dumbfounded! Now it appears these kinds of nuts are everywhere!

As i said i will be back in wednesday. yeah i am . and i got chance to read all threads. And atlast i am going to continue the above mention scenario.
guys guess what??????????????
did that mcdonald came back ?
did he took his ID?
did he left $10?
i am going to answer above question.
As soon as i enter hotel i was very curious about that ID whether it was there or not where i had left last time.i was so surprised i did not found that ID any more in the place where it was before. i asked co worker about that .she said it was here till monday night but she did not saw wednesday and also she heard the guy was back and took his ID. i was happy the story of man was not fake. he really needed help. but i didnot asked about the money . i know that even if that person had left money there is no i way that i will get that money back. the person who has received that money will deny of receiving the money. so i thought it was not worth asking such a question.
now i think this chapter is closed.
thanks again guys for your views and suggestions.

That happens all the time in London. People asking for 20p 30 p 70p saying that they are that amount short to pay for the travel.
I have an amazing story from Kathmandu. It was around 4/5 years ago. I was walking my way from Baghbazar to Putalisadak. I had just crossed Merina Impex and was heading to City Edication Consultancy for my TOEFL preparation. A young voice called someone. Dai, malai help garnu na !! I ignored that and keep on moving. After few steps I heard the same words and same voice. I didnt realised that the boy was calling me. When I turned back, a very innocent looking boy on his early teens with sad face was behind me. I looked at his face, but didnt said anything. He repeated again, Dai malai help garnu na !! Than I asked, kina, K bho? He replied, Dai ma, Thali bata ekali ghumna aako. Mero paisa nai harayo. Farkera jana paisa chaina. Malai help garnus na. He was looking very innocent and bit afraid. Dai, tapain lai patyar lagdain bahney, tapain mero bus bhada khalasi lai nai dinus. I was in a doubt. But when he told me to pay his travelling fare to the conductor directly, I had some believe in him. I gazed at him, the boy looked decent with his normal shirt and cotton trouser. I felt that he was really in trouble. Than asked him, kati bhada lagchha? He replied, saat rupiya lagchha dai. He added, khalasi bhanyo bhaney chha rupiya lay pani manchha hola. I than really felt he is innocent. I gave him seven rupees and tld him to be aware from next time and not to loose the money. Than he asked, dai tapain ko phone humber dinus, ma tapain lai bhetera tapain ko paisa firta dinchhu. I said, bhayo pardaina. I can still remember his face. I feel that he was not a thug. He must have been in trouble.

First off, to answer your question, if I was in your shoes I'd go buy a Lamisil.
Second, are you trying to just share the story or are you trying to console yourself for getting duped?
Forget about the 5 bucks you lost. Problem with these fakers is that there might be somebody who would actually need money. My friend lost his wallet while coming back from work and had to ask people for Subway fare, few didn't believe him at all.
So what would you do next time? Just tell them that you would love to help, but you are out of any dime. Or tell him that you have ID card from 3 people who haven't come back to claim their money.
Last, to Samsara's post, I have a similar one I saw in Break.com (real story).
The bum:"My Friend was killed by a Ninja. Need money to learn Karate."

many years ago there was a guy on the ground level of Boston South Station, on way to Greyhound station. He held a sign: Stranded. Please help. I saw him every day, in the evenings only.
From business POV, he had the perfect location, perfect slogan (3 words), and perfect timing.

I would never give a bucks to any American Begger..
..There are many people in Nepal who greatly need it and it will be worth to do that.
Collect and give it to charity or hospital in Nepal

happened 2 me once as well.
i was going 2 a party at my brother's place at midnight and one black guy came asking for money. i was alone, wasn't scared but he pursued me as if it was all real. he told me that his wife is pregnant and needed money for cab. i don't know may b i was in hurry or i was just completely fooled by him. he even showed me his room to come in the morning for the money and gave me his driving permit......."not licence".
after a while i told myself well he could have called an ambulance if it was so emergency. then next morning i went to knock the door to get my money and when i called him, some yelling voice told me to stop bugging. then i just smiled and went away making the fool out of myself.
after few months my fren got robbed in the same apt complex by a black guy at gun-point. then i was like god may b i did right or it was my good fate.

Here is my story guys,
Once when I was in my work , A mexican boy came into window and said to me "your car headlight was bad" "I have one at home I will give you for 20 buck"
He looked like good guy, then he asked me $5 so that he can eat something and will bring the headlight tomorrow at my work. I gave him money and he promised to bring the stuff.
Next day he came and he said let's go to my room and I will change your headlight, I said I can't go why don't you bring it here. he said ok, but asked $5 from me again so that he can eat something before the Mcdonald closes. I gave him $5 and he never showed up.
I thought I was more than stupid for being fooled twice by a mexican boy who bearly speaks english.
but more than that I think I was too kind............Just like all of Nepali people......
