Hello friends, just today im back from one of the most beautiful countries. This was my 4th trip of the year and perhaps the best. I was pretty amazed with the lifestyle, funny accent, men in frock, bagpiper, culture, whiskey, highlands, low lands and everything of this wonderful country. So, as usual, im eager to share my experience with SAJAH friends through pictures. Please mind, im not a good photographer and I used ordinary 4.00 megapixel camera without powerful zoom so, please donot expect great snaps. The country was SCOTLAND, part of Great Britain/ the United Kingdom (GB or UK consists of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland). Its half of size of Nepal and 5.1 million population.Edinburgh, the city of castle is capital city and Glasgow is the biggest city of country. Im writin this so that u could enjoy more with the pictures :-)So here we go Scotland :-)--I wd be only happy if u drop few words after viewing this thread--

Amazing,
A wee bit of tip about the cities.
Aberdeen : the granite building such as Marishal college give the city its dinstinctive look thats where it got its name from Grey City. Gotta take a look and also the Aberdeen university another great landmark. There you can also enjoy a great night out and the weird thing is the clubs and pubs used to be churches and can you imagine drinking in a holy place.... loll I did... i m going to hell!!!! oh dear god. Another city in the outskirt of Aberdeen you must look is the stonehaven, a port town where they have a war memorial not sure if it is WW1 or 2. quite a walk but very good time. You will also take note of Dunnattar Castle which is dramatic and evocative ruin. As you wander around the extensive buildings you are almost surrounded by sea with sea-gulls and other seabirds wheeling and screaming around the cliff and they are fat birds very scary and loud. This castle has a very good historical event tied with William Wallace, A hero from Scotland. I am sure you will love it. Try tradditonal pub called the Prince of Wales a great place to chill out if you like the tradditional music and good company
Glasgow : To me glasgow is more industrial place, Shopping paradise and clubbing area. I do the latter two things there and also not to be missed the museum and art gallery and University of Glasgow.
Inverness: A home to lochness, grab the bus and enjoy the view and the myth. Inverness has some different angle of Scotland more quiter and unique in its own way. Great museum and art gallery, also check out the inverness castle which is now turned into Sheriff's court not sure if you can enter the building tho. I dint the other time I was there, but good place to pose a picture hehe! Eastgate shopping center, a great place to shop till you drop which i love to do but that is just a fancy area. Do take a look at the indoor Victorian Market which has shops selling Scottish souvenirs and also great things for window shopping.
I think thats all for now hope i gave enuff info! But i am sure you have done extensive research nevertheless do enjoy to the fullest!
cheers mate!

29. 'The famous Union Street of Aberdeen'Aberdeen has many nick names, The Northern city is 'Oil Capital of Europe' and a Granite city, all the houses are in same color. There are 2 Nepali restaurants and around 150-200 Nepalis have made this place a second home (students dominating)

The pictures and the accompanying descriptions on this thread are splendid. Please keep them coming. Here is a celebrated poem by W H Auden that I had to study as a student. It highlights the salient characters of Scotland highlands which could be appropriate for the forum. NIGHT MAIL by W H Auden
This is the Night Mail crossing the border, Bringing the cheque and the postal order, Letters for the rich, letters for the poor, The shop at the corner and the girl next door. Pulling up Beattock, a steady climb: The gradient's against her, but she's on time. Thro' sparse counties she rampages, Her driver's eye upon the gauges. Panting up past lonely farms Fed by the fireman's restless arms. Striding forward along the rails Thro' southern uplands with northern mails.
Winding up the valley to the watershed, Thro' the heather and the weather and the dawn overhead. Past cotton-grass and moorland boulder Shovelling white steam over her shoulder, Snorting noisily as she passes Silent miles of wind-bent grasses.
Birds turn their heads as she approaches, Stare from the bushes at her blank-faced coaches. Sheepdogs cannot turn her course; They slumber on with paws across. In the farm she passes no one wakes, But a jug in the bedroom gently shakes.
Dawn freshens, the climb is done. Down towards Glasgow she descends Towards the steam tugs yelping down the glade of cranes, Towards the fields of apparatus, the furnaces Set on the dark plain like gigantic chessmen. All Scotland waits for her: In the dark glens, beside the pale-green sea lochs Men long for news.
Letters of thanks, letters from banks, Letters of joy from the girl and the boy, Receipted bills and invitations To inspect new stock or visit relations, And applications for situations And timid lovers' declarations And gossip, gossip from all the nations, News circumstantial, news financial, Letters with holiday snaps to enlarge in, Letters with faces scrawled in the margin, Letters from uncles, cousins, and aunts, Letters to Scotland from the South of France, Letters of condolence to Highlands and Lowlands Notes from overseas to Hebrides Written on paper of every hue, The pink, the violet, the white and the blue, The chatty, the catty, the boring, adoring, The cold and official and the heart's outpouring, Clever, stupid, short and long, The typed and the printed and the spelt all wrong.
Thousands are still asleep Dreaming of terrifying monsters, Or of friendly tea beside the band at Cranston's or Crawford's: Asleep in working Glasgow, asleep in well-set Edinburgh, Asleep in granite Aberdeen, They continue their dreams, And shall wake soon and long for letters, And none will hear the postman's knock Without a quickening of the heart, For who can bear to feel himself forgotten?
