Kathmandude,
I liked your list but allow me to shuffle your numbers around.
Good Pick:1.Brokeback Mountain(Based on reviews and story itself,I forecast an oscar nod for best flick and best director for Ang Lee)
Won't predict about actors haven't seen the movie yet.Jake Gyllenhal,I admire his performance dating back to "October Sky".Let's see.

2.Good night, and Good Luck is sure to make among best movies list(George Clooney at his left-coast best);)

3.Memoirs of the GeishaMay or maynot make it academy awards for best picture but it will certainly be talk of the "Oscartown".The Japanese version of Cindrella story is worth watching.

4.Cindrella ManRon Howard(The Beautiful Mind)once again. No gold-statue for Russell(short-tempered)Crowe.The best supporting actor is ending up in the hands of Paul Giamatti(take my words)

5.The Constant GardenerThe do-good and justice side of Hollywood while Angelina Jolie enjoys her trip to African nations.;)
Rest,
Reviews reflect "Rent" is better on Broadway,So!
King Kong will be praised for special effects.Don't you think Peter Jackson had his heydays?
Oh and foreign movie,Paradise Now:Good one!
My Tinseltown picks so far.

Must watch "Crash" .
It is an eye opening movie about immigrants, racism, xenophobia and prejudice people have within themselves.
Highly recommended to people who are living orplan to live in USA.
