All, According to USCIS they received approximately 172,500 applications for H1-B 2015 cap. This means you only have almost 49% of chance (For advanced degree) or 42% chance (for non advanced degree) of get selected for this years cap. I have applied for advanced degree exemption and it is been 14 days since my application reached to USCIS. I haven't heard anything from my lawyer. According to USCIS, they have already selected 20,000 Advanced degree quota and 65,000 general quota by April 10. My concern is, did USCIS already notified those 85,000 applicaitons? I have got nothing from my lawyer until now. Does that means, I am not selected? I am in intense pressure, my OPT is expiring in a couple of months from now. How long it takes to notify all the applicants that they are picked up or not for the further processing? Anyone? any clue? Thanks,

@mvn- I meant- last year there was lottery too. I did not get the lottery. This year too there is lottery. I have not heard anything yet. I am starting to lose hope. But still have little hope till the end of the week. I applied for premium processing. Hope all the sajha members make into this lottery.

@GoneCrazy- Read this . http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/international-business/US-gets-1-7-lakh-H1B-visa-applications-lottery-decides-fate/articleshow/33636553.cms I could be wrong but my understanding is that if you did not get the lottery last year you won't be subjected to the Cap.

@mvc- That's true. They conducted lottery last year and this year. I did not make into lottery last year, so I went to the university which offers CPT from first semester and applied again this year.

It seems USCIS has been sending receipt notice to the masters cap first. Haven't received any receipt under cap as of today.

My AD/PP/VT was received by USCIS on 4/10 and i got my receipt on 4/15. Based on my understanding, for premium processing, you should receive ur receipts by 4/28 and for regular processing, you may get the receipts anytime in may, june or july. Good luck to all Nepalese H1B applicants.

If you call to your school and ask for the sevis status, you'll find if you are selected in a lottery. They even provide your case #/receipt # too. Good Luck to y'll. THanks,

All, Did you all got H1B approved!!! Congrats to those who received it. I got RFE asking for the Sevis Fee Payment. I paid Sevis fee to one Sevis Id and applied to the other Sevis ID. I never transferred that payment though. They are asking for the proof of payment on my current SEVIS ID. I called to the SEVS department and they mentioned that they can't transfer the payment now. It was like 6 years back. So, I made a new payment on my current SEVIS ID, And my lawyer is writing a letter to the embassy , what happened to my case. Hopefully, It will be all set. What happen to yours case?

Coolbuddy, I don't know what you trying to say. So far I only have receipt number, and my online status shows the case in Initial Review (normal processing). They never asked me to ask for the payment or other stuff though. Hope, all of sajha basi get into the lottery. Good Luck guys.

@ Nepaliscientist: This is the scenario to my case: 6 years back, applied to few universities. got 2 I-20 from diff. universities. Paid Sevis Fee to one I-20; X Univeristy; (Diff. Sevis ID), Applied Visa to other I-20 ; Y University; (Diff. Sevis ID) and got VISA. Now graduated from Y university, applied OPT - got accepted. Applied H1B - Selected on Lottery. and it was PP. Now, I got a RFE to show the proof of the sevis payment made on that Y University which I never did. I should have transfer my sevis payment long time back but the old sevis payment now got expired. So, I made a new payment (called as I-901 fee) also called as SEVIS fee few days back to the current Sevis ID ( Y Univeristy) and my Lawyer is explaining the scenario to the USCIS Dept. I don't know what would be end result now. Good Luck to all. Thanks.

What does embassy have to do in this case? That made your posting unclear.

Coolbuddy, Thanks for making your situation clear. Sounds like in your case it's a matter of confusion. Well, not really a confusion but need to explain it to USCIS for sure. Is per my understanding, as long as you pay a SEVIS once you should be good. They (whoever is authorized) should be able to clear this hold but the worse case senerio (might be) they may ask you to pay SEVIS again coz they have generated diff. SEVIS # for you. (Just a thought). Your case is just like you became a president and now they are asking your birth certificate. Just be patient. You should be good. Congrats on getting through H1B. It was tough this time. Nepali.

@ Nepali bro. I guess I should be safe. I did make a payment already to my current Sevis #. I end up paying my Sevis fee twice (once 6 years back and the other few days back). My lawyer is explaining this case in details to USCIS. Hope, I will land safely. Can't wait to see my parents/frens back in Nepal. Thanks for additional hope. Good Luck to all H1B Applicants. :)
