BB, Nerdy re? ke ho eklo paayo bhanera hepdine. :P. i m anything but nerdy...;) dunno abt TP though. :D Pat, dude, with each post you are more close to proving yourself a "smarta$$". no offence hai, malai timi bhai jasto laagera maatra bhanna khojya ho. applying one's creativity is one thing and DENYING to learn is another. I am not expecting you to be creative right away, but with the clues i have given to you so far, any peanut size brain will have deciphered it long time back. If you know anything about 'Plagiarism" then you will know what is stopping me to do the damn proof step by step. I don';t mind helping but i expect others to learn at the same time. I am gonna show you the simplest method by which it can be proved (chain rule). 1) d(ln(x))/dx=1/x (we know that and dont ask me why, do some reading) 2) ln(e^x)=x (we know that, and dont ask me why, do some reading) 3) hence d( ln(e^x)/dx=dx/dx=1 (ho ki haina?) 4) put u=e^x 5) differentiating both sides w.r.t. x on 4) du/dx=d(e^x)/dx 6) now from 3) (d (ln u)/du).du/dx=1 or, (1/u).du/dx=1 (from fact 1)) or, du/dx=u therefore d(e^x)/dx=e^x There could be other methods as well. Right now i can think of 5 different methods. I explained you the simplest one. ONE REQUEST: DOn't copy and paste what i did. Try to learn, it will ONLY help you. I love mathematics so could not stop helping you. Loote

limx -> 0 ( e^ x - 1 ) / x = limx-> 0 [ d ( e ^x - 1 ) / dx ] / [ d ( x ) / dx ] = limx->0 e x / 1 = 1 To solve the above equation, one just need to keep L'Hopital's Rule and Derivation in mind. Good Luck!

I reckon that's the simplest method. Just need to know the derivation rule, hoina Loote? But the tutorial was nice. People who got rusty with L'Hopitals Rule and Derivation, should thank you. That was pretty neat for the toddlers.:)

yeah but guess what filip, when i did the L hospital thing to solve his first part, Pat bro came here complaining that it is not the one he needed to do. but rather he wanted to prove d (e^x)/dx=e^x. digression? hence my long tutorial on that proof in the last post :) i don't have problem helping anyone in this forum. all are like nepali daju bhai didi bahini, but i hate when somebody thinks that people are here for granted to HELP. Now that is what i call hypicricy. Pat brother no hard feelings hai. Loote

Why would someone wants to jump to substitution rule when he said he has not come across L'Hopital's rule! If the same problem can be delt in simpler way then why chose harder way that involves many steps? The probability of making errors are higher as my instructor used to say.:) thapap, hajurko intelligenceko agadi ma ta machhar! ;)

Why would someone wants to jump to substitution rule when he said he has not come across L'Hopital's rule! ==== where is that coming from ????? :S :S :S L hospitals rule is the simplest of all to solve that problem filip folop. it solves in two steps as u did. Substitution???? i see what u saying. the chain rule rite? well that was for his second part. remember, pat had two problems 1) lim (e^x-1)/x =1 x-o 2) derivative of e^x w.r.t. x is e^x My last post was for this part. Loote

Hints of solution of the first problem 1.expand e^x .(perhaps you know that) 2.subtract 1 from expansion of e^x in this case 1 cancel. 3.Divide all the remaining terms by x. 4.plug x=0.in this case all terms become zero except and then you get 1 as answer.

Exactly Loote, L'Hopital's the basic rule to learn.Aee okay , I misread it. Apology I ask for. Hopefully pat is able to do his assignment and at the same time have learned L'hopital's Rule.
