SimpleGal, You know better than anybody else ( I am bowled over by the depth of your knowledge about Hindi songs: singers, writeres, musicians, and even films... wow!!) that " Foolo ki Ranga Se, Dil Ki Kalam Se" wasthe first of its kind in Hindi filmdom in that it was in chaste Hindi, not a word of Urdu!! Am I right?
मलाइ साह्रै मन पर्ने हिन्दी गित sona re sona re र KORA KAGAJ THA --Aradhana .SOOO HAPPY ..FINALLY I GOT IT :) धन्यवाद Amazing ,अब त्यो अर्को नि ँेटिन्छ कतै :)
Once upon a time in Israel, we were at a bus stop to see off an Indian student (his name was Deepak too) who was leaving for home. Among us were a dozen of Nepali and Indian friends. Among Indians were a girl who was naturally closer to the boy leaving for home, although there was this Hind[u]-Muslim religious distance as well.
We were waiting for the bus to arrive and the atmosphere was somber. I was thinking of something to cheer up all. I turned to the girl and said, "Parveen, are you sad ?".
She said, "No, I am not, why should I ?"
"Really ?"
"yes, I am fine."
"I can make you cry, shall I ?"
"Yes, why not ? Go ahead."
Then I started to sing the song, "Zindagi ke safar me guzar jaate hai jo maqaam.."
Oh boy ! Before I finished the first line, she started to cry aloud and uncontrollably. Well, on my shoulder !
After my turn of comforting, people took their turn to comfort her. Deepak, apparently shaken by what just happened and by the song as well, gave a full and long hug to Parveen and said, "Don't worry, we will keep in touch and see again."
When it was my turn to see her off a year or so later, I made sure I do not sing that song. It did not work, however. It was a tearful and sobbing farewell anyway.
miss_me, its so AMAZING that we have same kind of interest. Belive me, i was just about to post the song. Thanks you liked the previous song and here is another song specially for you and also to me.
I tried looking for the song "Chalo Ek baar phir se ajnabi ban jaye hum dono" in youtube without any luck. Its a wonderful song by mahendra kapoor and it'd be great if someone could get hold of it!??
Khabardar, I have a deep interest and love of old hindi movies and songs .... Feri afu ta Biratnagaria pariyo and we Biratnagarias are infamous for being too much into films :)
Honestly I didn't know what you pointed out about Phoolon ke rang se.
That's quite a gem by Hemant Kumar ...Jane woh kaise log thei jinke pyar ko pyar mila ...Another Ludhianvi masterpiece ... I am always psyched up by this other song from the same movie (pyaasa) that goes .....
Ye mehlon ye takhto ye tajo ki duniya Ye insaan ke dushman samajo ki duniya Ye duniya agar mil bhi jaye to kya hai ....
Rafi is just superb in this song ....the undulations in his voice are like waves in the ocean ...morose and deep at the beginning progressing to catastrophic heights at the end that devastates the shores .....
Jala do ise phookh dalo ye duniya Mere samne se hatalo ye duniya Tumhari hai tumhi samhalo ye duniya..........
Silent Night, Missed that other Guru Dutt classic song ...Dekhi zamane ki yaari/Bichde sabhi bari bari ...I love that song and sing it quite often ....Very true about how fleeting relationships are in today's world ....
