Khoi, I didn't see anything in that video that indicated his meditation was the fake one. He said he left because there was no peace there. That sounds pretty logical to me. So many people flocking around, whole world watching his every move, who would want to meditate in such a condition? If Siddhartha Gautam was born today, even he would have hard time achieving Nirvana. Just let him be... just let him reach his destination. The world is full of self-proclaimed God, and he hasn't even proclaimed anything yet. eh!! Worry about those self-proclaimed onez.

from BBC News World: "Bomjan's followers claim he was an incarnation of Lord Buddha who was born in Lumbini, in present-day Nepal, more than 2,500 years ago." Bomjan is not to blame for his follower's claims. Just people trying get attention or seeking some spritual escape. But my question is how can these people claim incarnation of Lord Buddha? Do these "followers" have any idea about incarnation according to Buddhism? Lord Buddha attained Nirvana, meaning he doesn't have to be reborn in the vicious cycle or reincarnation. Reincarnation of Lord Buddha is not logical according to the basic principle of Buddhism as I understand it. Unless you are following Buddhism from a Hindu perspective, then you can have reincarnations (avatars) like other Hindu gods.

Ten Months without food and water..common you got to be kidding. And they didnt let the scientists to verify that saying" it would disturb his meditation"....How foolish. About 7-8 years ago, there was a rumor ( apparently started by some dhotis in Britain) that Ganesh bhagwan's statue or pic was drinking milk.. This rumor came to india and finally to Nepal ( especially Biratnagar). All those stupid people started streaming to the temples in BRT . Finally it was proved the next day that it was just a hoax. This is all BULLSHIT.. just my opinion...

here is that stupid story: The Milk Miracle of September 1995 "...a sign that a great soul has descended" On Thursday, September 21, 1995, the news swept around the world of the extraordinary miracles of milk-drinking Hindu statues. Never before in history has a simultaneous miracle occurred on such a global scale. Television, radio and newspapers eagerly covered this unique phenomenon, and even sceptical journalists held their milk-filled spoons to the gods -- and watched, humbled, as the milk disappeared. The media coverage was extensive, and although scientists and 'experts' created theories of "capillary absorption" and "mass hysteria", the overwhelming evidence and conclusion was that an unexplainable miracle had occurred. It all began at dawn in a temple on the outskirts of Delhi, India, when milk offered to a statue of Ganesh just disappeared into thin air. Word spread so quickly throughout India that soon thousands were offering milk to the gods and watching in amazement as it disappeared. Life in India was brought to a virtual standstill as people rushed to temples to see for themselves the drinking gods. Others claimed that small statues in millions of homes around the country were also drinking the offerings of milk.

Regarding that bomojon did or didnot eat in the night time, he was all the time in same position throughout the day..if i am supposed to stay like this for ten months in same position through out the day when all the people is watching at you..i will go insane....i cannot stay like this for even one hours... So i believe something might be there... Mysteryman i think be was observed phsycally for 48 hours..but test were not allowed because he was in the meditation...i will freak out if i stay like this for 10 months... So please don't compare with that ganesh... Buddhism also follow reincarnation...but certain buddhism don't follow reinccarnation. But i don't know the reincarnation of buddha, all i know is dalai lama, karmapa and there are various kinds of lama who is reincarnated...

I totally agree with SS74K. It would be hellova job to meditate for 10 months like that. Consider the facts, for sure he did not eat or drink for give and take 10 months, do not consider nights for benefits of doubt, I would not claim it because I have not come across any one saying anything about night, so I am sure for only 10 month of daytime. Can you imagine he stayed there meditating ?...Thats overwhelming. I have not come across any one saying that he himself claimed any kind of devine alignment, or rebirth or any god. He is just a small kid who is meditating, who only he knows, but thats off the topic, the reason he is meditating. A kid comes and meditates, but off come all the tru worshipers, coming to see live god. They must have made lot of noise, lot of prayer, who of course I would understand would distrub the little guy. No one wants to be disturb if he/she is concentrating, best of all he has mentioned that he does not have special powers, he is normal guy just you and me, seeking answers to some questions (which I am not interested for now). I am very disappointed with the topic of this string. Some small poor guy gets some thought, sits around some corner in a forest to find answers to those. He neither advertises himself nor he gets any physical incentives to do it. The sewa samitis and all those you see are selfish acts of people who want to commercialize it. GIRIJA PRASAD you should be ashamed of yourself to call this guy NAKKALI BUDDHA. Why do you call him buddha in the first place, has he ever claimed that he is the one? Has he invited stupid guys like you to worship him? Why you even bother if u think it is fake? What is the Definition of Fake? Leave the poor guy alone, let him go somewhere else and continue with his persue of answers for his thoughts. Mind your own business. I fees sorry for the kid, and wish him all the best.

ss74k, I agree with you that Buddhists do believe in reincarnation. Like you said, Dalai Lama, Karmapa etc. However attaining Nirvana equates to breaking the cyle of being reborn. Gautama Buddha attained Nirvana and Buddhahood. I know some Buddhism believe multiple Buddhas (eg. Pancha Buddha), but do not claim that they were reincarnations. Anyone know any different? About Bomjom, let's just leave him to a meditating young man status for now. A great number of people medidate for long periods without drawing public attention... Maybe he did a smart thing getting out of this media frenzy. Wonder what would Buddha have done?

.I could not help myself from making some comments. I totally agree with "nevermind" on the misleading title of this piece. "Nakkali Buddha"--what's that supposed to mean? How did the question of nakkali or sakkali arise when the boy hasn't even claimed himself as the Buddha. "People" started calling him Buddha because they could not fathom the existence of one. So what do people do? Call him a "Buddha" and then the same people lash out against him saying that he could not be a "Buddha". People make up things like these to satisfy their own sense of religious aspiration--an aspiration of having observed a "darshan" of THE Buddha. This brings me to what Karl Marx once said aptly about occasions as these. He said, "Religion is the opium of people." True. So true.

I dont know whether its nakkali or sakkali but I read somewhere that some western journalists had a look at the videotape that was supposed to reveal the supernatural powers of him. There comments were in the line of "that video tape was done with poor digital technique and may fool the innocent villagers but not us". I hope the Bomjon turns out to be serious and become a symbol of peace that is much needed in Nepal. But when it comes to claims like "10 months without food or water"then well.....
