Recently our education minister (Pradip Nepal) announced that each school children would be given computer although they are not having basic course book to buy.

In Nepal, Children had to block high ways to get the course books. This happened in many places to make their problems addressed. Many stranded tourists at Chitwan made video movie out of the activities of the children. They did not regret over the missing of safari trek at all because they were fortunate to encounter such a situation which they never can have back in their poor land.

School children attacked few book stalls in Biratnagar to get course book when they knew it was of short supply. They did so to escape black market of books.

In one of the country schools, Children were schooled under the trees as the classes were very hot because of corrugated sheet roof. But at the same time, the grazing animals were inside the classes to avoid the direct sun because the fortunate school children were already enjoying the tree shade.

All political parties and leaders plead for free and quality education for poorer students. To achieve this goal, they have changed government colleges into a political training centre to enhance their approach to better education and have unwilling expelled their children to foreign land.

This year schools and educationalist were thankful to Janak Sikshya Samagri Kendra (a sole authority to print government school course books and distribute the same to all schools in whole Nepal.) for printing ballot papers for Constitution Assembly election instead of course book. The students could have their books late only by three months in lieu of Janak Sikshya Samagri Kendra’s philanthropic work.

Sajha book stall at Bhotahity (Disrtibutor of government books) had many times a long queue of junior school students to get books. In the beginning stages, many senior students of the locality ran there with plastic jar thinking that the kerosene was being sold to the students.

In junior school course, there is one line which reads “Nepal is the country of second highest hydroelectricity potentiality in the world after Brazil.” Few teachers suggested authority to delete this particular line when they failed to convince this to their children. The children too, in their part were right as they were confronting an eight hours long load shedding each day.

Prof Dr. Ram Prasad Lamechhane of TU perhaps, defended government when latter failed to supply books to students. He roared from the media that the schools could be run even in the absence of the necessary books.

This year we got a new record of peoples’ will in Tarai. They demanded that they be given free hand to cheat in exams and others like this.
