A blatant realization…

Carefree, careless and cocooned,

Childhood’s adjectives

No structured games,

Just a merry dance

In the glorious spring

Of butterfly chases and flower garlands,

Of baffling climes and calm zephyr,

Of brilliant rainbows and silver drops,

Of cherry, plums and candytuft blossoms,

Of ribbons, scarves and ballerina toes,

Of syllables and shrilly shrieks,

Of squabbles and bruises,

Of raisins and orange marmalade….

……I,a prima Donna of self opera.

From spring to summer,

The sun got warmer...

With the heat of dreams and desires...

Dreams so surreal…yet so real...

Real as a christening...

Real as a wrinkled skin

Them I chase,

The race I run…

And I run until I pant…

At the crossroads they waved.

I made a final salutation

and wished them a delightful slumber

Conspicuously somewhere beneath,

The desires lay dormant,

Safe within the blurred contours...

“The water gets murkier”,

I sigh… and I smile…

“Que sera sera”

A deep breath, a deeper plunge

All I know is,

Before ‘The Day’,

On my crimson Maundy Thursday,

For me, there shall be…

A platter full of cakes,

A jar full of ale,

And amidst that drunken revelry

Shall I rejoice...

“Yes, how true! Life is all cakes and ale..."

{*dedicated to the intangible someone , again:)}

Damn, you slumbered in the crossroad?
i say, close your eyes brace yourself and  take the path that's the most serpentine, inconspicuous. it will reap fruits in the long run. then you can put the 'cherry' on top of the cake and enjoy it with wine (grape) :D...

i like the sound of a triumphant/optimist in your pieces amidst challenges and delusion. keep up the good work! :D

Another praiseworthy piece...but wait, did you get kipped at the juncture? Could not help recalling the lines from Henry Wadsworth...

"Tell me not, in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
and things are not what they seem.
Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art; to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul."

Loved how artistically your words cover from the dissecting viscera of vanishing dreams to torpid desires and can still make an exit with some happy tone. Keep on coming with more verses like this !!!

@ LooteKuKur,

nope, i didnt. infact my fictitious verse suggests  i took a different road after waving off my dreams.. 'the most serpentine, inconspicuous.' probably. .:)

long run..hmm.. well i would rather set out on a long drive. . long drive and serpentine roads are fab!(sans the giddiness and pukes:D)

thanks a deal bonnie!

@ Nepal ko Chora,

the juncture/crossroad act seems to have intrigued you too. . i just bade my lame dreams goodbye..

Wordsworth knew the worth of his each word. . i too aspire to do so someday:)(high hopes..!heh heh.)

but sir, for your comment, a big 'thank You' it is:)
