Which one?

Would you choose CR-V over RAV4?

Would you prefer Odyssey over Sienna?

There was an interesting discussion on whether CR-V is better than RAV4 few months ago here in Sajha.  Could not find it.

If we compare with those cars, not much difference in quality and performances couple points up and down. But it depends on your taste and your perception. If you go on auto section you will find reviews by owners which give you legitimate answer than us.

Thanks guys.  I am trying to get sajha-friends' pov rather than auto reviewer's sterile report, although latter would probably be more in-depth.

I own 2004 CRV EX 4WD. It has lots of room than RAV 4 does. Overall it is a good car, but there are certain things you might want to know.
Cons:
1. The exhaust system (exhaust pines A, B, and Catalytic converter) is very expensive. It is estimated to be over $2000. I took my car to change tyre at Sears and they messed up the exhaust system. I didn't have evidence to proof that they did it, so I was ended up spending my own money. Speaking of changing tyres, now you know not to trust Sears to do good job on this simple procedure. If you have to go to Sears for these types of services, ask them to perform them in front of you.
2. Don't trust the EPA gas millage. Its always 4-5 miles lesser.
3. Complex AC system.
4. Low ground clearance, not that it would matter much.

Pros:
Smooth Ride, Roomy, and good visibility.

i was in that discussion some months ago.. CRV vs RAV.

bottom line is Both are good for its class. i chose a 2005 CRV but many people also like the RAV. i have heard that the RAV is quieter when driving on highway. but CRV also has lot of advantages.. i think the 2005 crv uses timing chain while 2005 RAV has timing belt... and to change that costs like $500 (part + labor).  well that will only probably be changed one time every 80,000 miles but still.. something to think about if you are buying a used car.

also a lot of people seem to prefer the RAV's design rather than CRV.

if you are buying brand new .. i dont know its up to you .. both are equally good i guess... the latest model.. both CRV & rav look great.

I would say CRV is a lot better. I was crazy for RAV-4 but ended up buying CRV 08 after doing a few test drives on both. I personally like the new CRV design that came out with 07 models. The engine is much quieter than that of the RAV-4. The interior has more space and the materials used inside of the cabin is much better than what you find in RAV-4. However, the price of CRV is a bit more expensive in each trim compared to RAV4 and CRV don't have the V6 option and lacks 7 passenger occupancy option as well. But again resale value of Honda is always superior than that of Toyota. Besides these, both of them are very lovely cars.

Cheers...

Thanks friends.

I test drove both RAV4 and CRV the other day.  Here's my personal findings:

In my honest opinion, CRV definitely has better design, as far as look and feel goes.  The dash, the exterior, the guages - all look much more refined than of RAV4.

I also found the engine noise slightly less in CRV.  Turns out CRV has specific feature that reduces engine noise, but available only in EX-L models.

The turn radius was about the same, but CRV being smaller, it was easier to handle.

RAV4 does have the option of 3rd row, but it is so small, almost for the name only.

All in all, I guess, I am leaning towards to CRV.

Please post if you have different opinion.
