Hi

My secure wireless is keep on disconnecting in every 5 mins. We have 3 computers. My roommates can access wireless on their computer, its just me. I can access to other unsecured wireless but not mine secured one.

We have Dlink and I have Toshiba satellite. I tried everything like changing the router channel, update my firmware, changed the router position and even I updated the wireless driver in my system as well but nothing worked. I called comcast people and Dlink people but they asked me to do the same thing.

I dont know what should I do now beside changing my laptop :-( which i really dont want to do immediately.

Please help me, youe help will be greatly appreciable.

I had same issues earlier...

1. Go to some place where they have a firewall..esp in colleges connect there you should be good in there.

2. It is because of the Virus and Spyware.... Get a free AVG and some Spyware scan your machine and delete everything. Things will be good.

3. It worked for me and hopefully will wotk for you too.

I don't think its comcast as my roommates are using it without any problem. It's only on my system D:-( and one more thing it usually happens only after 8 Pm.

check the setting in the router.. there will be an IP address or a website like routerlogin.net and a username and password on the back of the router. Once you login, go to wireless setup and check the bandwidth. Make sure the band is "g" or "g and b"  coz sometimes it is set to "mixed" which causes the network to drop on certain computers. If this doesnt work then change the router. Hope this helps.

I used to have the same problem. Here's how I solved it:

I changed the Network Authentication (under Security Settings) to WPA-Personal from WPA2-Personal and the Data Encryption from AES-CCMP to TKIP.

Hope this works for you as well.

no use this method
connect only one laptop wired first and change everything, including password, username and WPA-Personal from WPA2-Personal and the Data Encryption from AES-CCMP to TKIP. After that disconnect wired laptop and unplug router and moderm wait 3 minutes , then plug the router and moderm and wirelessly connect the same laptop first. Then increase the load one by one. Hope this will help.
