It all depends on the location, franchised vs independent.

Typical Inside Sales Margin : 10% to 45% depending upon product category. Average would be between 25% to 32 %

Gas Margin: 10 cents to 20 cents depending upon branded vs. unbranded and also who pays the credit fees.

Inventory, again, depends upon store size and and gas tank sizes. Average Inventory; $20,000 to $ 80,000.

Is it worth trying to get into retail business like gas station quiting six figure salary ? Of course business have growth potential but considering fact one have to start small and might take few years to learn and expand business just to match the salary one is already earning from day job. Also what experts think about value of gas station heading to considering fact that in next 10-20 yrs most small vehicals will be electric , will the property/goodwill value of gas stations will retain? Does it even worth getting into gas station business as it seems this business is at verge of new industry trend and probably will start to decline.
