I recently graduate from college with mechanical engineering degree. But the fact is there is no job in this field for international students. Most of them are related to defense and required a citizenship or green card. Is their any consultancies who can help us like the way they do in IT? OR
Do you guys think it is the right time to switch it to IT forgetting the past and the things you learnt before? Any Ideas, which is the best consultancy in DFW area?

UTA. I went to couple of job fair and talked to a lot of companies. They will tell you to give them a copy of a resume and also tells you to go online and fill out the application. After that very few will call you and asked about your status. Some nicer ones will even call you for interview paying for your tickets if it is in another state. you will have a good interview and they will send you back saying they will call you. you will be waiting to get a call but never happens.

goje let me tell you some stories of Nepali/Indian mechanical engineers who got job in USA - My Professor recommended to his friend working in a company and I got job - My good friend was working & he modified an open position in his company to make suitable for me & I got a job - Since my university was so so. I attended career fair at some other highly reputed university, got interview & got a job - I sent my resume to every possible company and I got interviews from few & got a job - One senior engineer has a post on Sajha, I contacted him & got a job - I left my university town and move to big city and I got a job. - I visited every possible company in person, and I got a job from one. - I applied to every single advertisement published for three months and I have got few interviews from recruiters, few from small companies, and one small company offered me a job agreed to sponsor H-1B. - Craigslist helped me find my first job. The bottom line is Keep on Searching until you find one.
