.
TB, diearrhea(sp?), cholera are the biggest killers
altho it is believed that a large number of cases diagnosed as 'TB' might actually be due to AIDS, but usually theres not enough funds to test for the HIV and so the death is usually attributed to the secondary infection, and with over 50% of the population smokers, TB is huge

BTW I don't know the real scenario regarding your query about nepal but I would not expect it to be much different from what I have found ...

child death== 9 out of 100 childred die before their fifth birthday in SA, Around half of the deaths occur after the first month and are due to common preventable and treatable conditions, such as diarrhoea, pneumonia, malaria, measles, dengue haemorrhagic fever and malnutrition.

every minute roughly four people die of Tb and 15 develop a new case and one third of these live in ASIA

Two thirds of people in Asia and the Pacific lack access to safe water, including 300 million in China alone

source:http://www.sajha.com/sajha/html/openThread.cfm?forum=2&ThreadID=31311

and there are immense possibilities on improving the situation... anyone interested???
