I don't think its "nepali culture" in whole to blame to; I think poverty is the main culprit here. I think it’s sad that young men have to go to places like Arab just to feed their families. Plus, I don’t think you can really blame sasu, buhari in this case. Of course, it would be wonderful if mother in laws and daughter-in-laws got along, but it’s hardly the case in most of the household. So they both can’t solely be blamed for the seperation; the sasu might in “little” bit blame in this case for them moving out because no matter where you are (city or village) you have to give your adult children (esp. the married ones) some privacy, and a right to live their own life. They don’t highlight what the buhari does to make her sasu furious in this case, so we don’t know her role in the disagreement.
THe situation has been potrayed very beautifully. It deserves lot appreciation. There is always ego problem from the dad and mom side while the autonomy problem from buhari side. This problem if resolved, the household would be heaven otherwise it will lead to the separation that definitely doesnot do good to either party.
Poverty defiinitely is a factor in this scenario but not the root cause.
I really thank you guy for this songs. well played by characters and still is better than western society, that's what i figured jayamatadi
I agree with Jayamatadi.. ofcourse it was sad that they moved out leaving their parents alone. It's not the "happiest" situation, but yet you can see soo many other respectable and positive things. I don't think Western culture is better than Nepali, and I don't believe that this video has protrayed that at all. Infact, I think it really highlights the positive relationship that we nepalese have with our spouses. It's nice to see the dad try to be fair to both his wife and daughter in law, and the son recognizing the fact that he's mom is unfair to his spouse and actually supporting her. Somewhere, half down the video the buhari mentions "I've endured sasu's mean comments for four years", and I think that itself shows a lot from her side.
A woman can make a house, a home. She can turn down a house as well. Instead of finding who is the culprit here, let's analyze who could salvage the situation here. The daughter-in-law could have clearly mended the breaking house, the mother could have been a little accompanying. The males, specially the son, could have taken the matter in their hands and afixated to fixing than breaking.
Now if you want to play the blame game, I'd rather side with the parents here. I am not saying the daughter-in-law had to endure all the "tortures," but they don't seem as extreme to break a house and leave the old parents, who deserved a lot more respect, on their own device.
Sure, poverty is to blame here; but more than anything understanding or lack thereof is to blame.
DWI theoretically you're absolutely right; practically I think it doesn't really work out that way. No doubt it was sad to see the parents in that situation at the end, but the buhari had a really hard time living with the sasu because she was CONSTANTLY at her back. Would you be able to stand that?
Both sides could have made a little effort in staying together, esp the mother. I don't think I'd respect the son very much if he didn't support his wife (not the way, but support in general). They could have come up with a may be a little more harsh solution like just have different kitchens but still live in the same house. But this is something just from my side, I don't really have any experience in this kind of situation to be able to make such judgements.
Thank you all the guys for your time and wonderufl comments.
Poverty, definetly could be the reason but not at all the MAIN CAUSE here.... There are many other factors to be considered. In my personal view all I blame is "KYU KI SAAS BHI KABHI BAHU THI"..
---------- I simply like the posetive thinkin of DWI dude, Im sure u gonna have fantastic family life... Keep it up dude :-)
Why are we discussing about portrayal of Nepali lifestyle in a video? We should look into our own lives and try to resolve any existing conflicts instead.
Nepali culture bad?Maybe but what do u think of this western culture? I think far worse than people realise! See the lives of people here, selfish, selfcentered and oh sooo lonely. Now a days ,there is no such good culture in this world. In every society, there r bad and good aspects and all kinds of people. We can't generalize one society.
Mitra le birsinu bhayo jasto chha. Nepal aba Hindu rastra rahena. So that Above pic don,t represent a Nepali culture that is a hindu culture. Further more those are the misguided path of Hindu culture. Ani mitra k tapailai yeta Paschima muluka tapailai free ma jagga dinchha bhanne thaneko purna lai???
Suruko video ko barema bhannu parda that is a part of life of a family. It is not a culture. Mitra harule Culture ko parivasa birsinu bhako bhaye ta tha chhaina. Tesari eklai Nuclear family ma basne Nepali culture hoina that is western culture. Bidesh bata gharma aayera Ba aama lai dhogeko jun dekhinchha tesma tyo Nepali culture ho. Tyo sarir dhakne gari kapada laune Nepali culture ho. Ani Tauko ko Dhaka topi pani Nepali culture ho. Chulo ma pirka ma basera khane Nepali culture ho.
here is my analaysis: sasu- a boss with lot of experices, bossy becos of ego, experience and responsibility. buhari- an employee who don't like bossy attitude but can't quit becos of long contract. son- official judge who has difficulty making judgement bcos he is torn between. sasura- just a old watchman loyal to boss. family or house- ofiice where nobody has real power.
It happens to rich educated family too. The only problem is mentality where parent and son consider each other as a source of asset. And we all know that money is never enough. The culture itself is great.
