I completed my studies here in U.S and that was what i came here for..I worked at various places here and gathered mind blowing experience..Now it's time..It's time for me to go back to my homeland..I don't care if there's no light for 16 hrs or 18 hrs...I am going back..I am going to see my parents, my relatives and my place where i was born, and what i live for...Struggled a lot in US, will struggle in Nepal also..No matter what, I am going home after 6 years...

b ro, i would like you to keep us updated about what's going on after you go to Nepal. lot of people in the usa think going to Nepal is falling from heaven. I think lots of students over here need to hear good stories from courageous people like you who chose to go to Nepal. we need to here that we can still succeed in Nepal. I think such stories will help lots of confused lives over here running after h1 and green cards.

It mekes me happy that you are making good decisions other country will give you saleter till you are strong but homeland always welcome you . I am serious folks. I am going back home, not immediately after the study though. The experience I have so far is just to teach Under-Grad from GA. Got to get the better job at better company at better position. That way I could make some difference in decision making at my work in Nepal. With years of experience in here it will be easier for me to get good post in no-time!

I respect and welcome the decision that you have made. You are quite correct about struggle. You have to struggle no matter where you end up being. My parents (who did not finish high school or inherit any property) took care of my grand parents until the end and  gave me every opportunity that could be bought with financial or social resources. I am proud of that. Very proud indeed. I just want to be morally responsible and choose my way of life. So my fellow countryman I will return too. Soon.
In no way I am suggesting that returning home or to motherland to our families is a superior decision. It is just that I find it suitable to my thinking. I will be happier that way. I know those who are away from Nepal love the motherland just as much as we do. They will do what they can to help us: good advices, moral and social help, political and financial help/investment. I know they will.

I have no authority to tell what is right. People have to decide what is right for themselves.

500 years ago this country was land of wilderness. Today it is what it is or what you think it is. People made it what it is. You and I are people. I want to believe that we are no less human than those on this land from whom I have benefited much. At least I can try to make motherland a better place. I don't believe these returning ppls intent. America is going through worse, and oppurtinities rt. after graduation or even after a couple of yrs of experience is in its worse for many. So lack of better here is encouraging you pps to go back, I bet noone planned to return nepal to help nepalis after graduation, when you first came here.
I now just want to hear a bunch of above returning planning ppl saying after a couple of year that they are doing great after returning there.

I see that you pps are serving your country even staying abroad. Obviously economy is worsening everywhere and its good to take a little break going back home. PPL going abroad and making strides of success have encouraged many students over nepal work hard with a sense of competition so as to meeet the achievement of their rival friends abroad.
If u go back with truthful heart, it will be great otherwise it will discourage many there.

I always had an intention of returning to nepal when I left Nepal. I am studying and I still do want to return once I finish my PhD.  I know the situation in Nepal is bad but if everybody thinks and say they will return when situation in Nepal improves than Nepal will never improve. The qualified must return to Nepal. Same thing happen to South Korea in the mid sixtees and now south korea is in top 10 richest country in the world. I have my family, friends and relatives back home and I miss them very much. And truth of the matter is , when I last went to Nepal I found people I know are infact saving more money than they are saving overseas. True the income is less but saving infact is a much higher. This may not be true for all though.

Malai nepal gaera jigir garnu ni chaina. May be 1-2 years. Because my ultimate goal is  to get into the market and create  some jobs in a completely new field. When It clicks money will take care of itself.   But I have certain ideas in my mind and some sponsors.  Herum kati ko successful hunchu.

In recent few months,  many of my friends who studies in US left and went back to Nepal. Most of them were saying they will go and assess the situation there before making a permanent decision. If things does not seem to be working, they all have Plan B..... i.e. either come back to US or go to other country... preferably UK or Australia. Most of them have gone back despite their family strongly rejecting the idea.

I am not sure if I will go back. I wish I would but I cannot see myself going back. There are situations. I have my old dad, mom and granny at home all on their own. They need us, but the situation in the country does not helps my cause.

I love my country as much as any other person does, but I live in reality.

If you are really decided to return Nepal permanently, you might just wanna blind yourself before leaving... you know there's 16 hrs of load-shedding.. you might be better off without eyes..

May be you blind one eye... keep the other one for the daytime when there;s natural  light.. then use the blind eye for night time when there's no electricity and light.. !!

Bro, it's good thing that you posted with proud that u r going back to Nepal.

Can you tell me what is your financial situation in Nepal and over here?? If you are from a middle class family with family income of Rs. 15,000 (Rs fifteen thousand) a month in Nepal and you have guts to go back, then I salute you for ur proudness.

If you are financially strong nepal, returning Nepal is not a proud bro. 

Many students coming over here for study with plan to work later on are from middle class or low class, financially with low family income. They can't think of graduating over here and returning back without making some money. Of course I will also return back, but not now, not because of condition of Nepal, but once I am financially stable, so may take some more years.

Going back to meet your family is not reason enough?

I miss my mom dad and small brother like anything. I would swim home if I had to / could.

I think its time to realize where we come from and where we call 'home'. One of my friends was telling me, "You know Nepalis are probably the best to adapt to any kind of situation" He went on to explain that we dont really feel any cultural threat when in foreign lands. We are 'cool' with whatever the culture surrounding us is.

Thousands of us living abroad, sacrificing, all that we have known and loved, for hopes of a more promising future. We see amazing things, things that we probably would never have seen in our lifetime had we stayed at home.

But the tour is over. Its time to think about the green hills of Nagarkot. The crystal waters of Rara. The majasty of the Himalayas. We are the children of the mountains, and that we must not forget.

Yes, there is 16 hours load shedding (maybe 20). Yes there is utter poverty and maara-kaat and gunda-gardi and corruption. That is but a wound, and if there is no one to heal that wound, it could turn fatal.

I have a year left for Undergrad. Then another 2 years for Masters. Once that's done I will have a sense of personal achievement and I will pat myself on the back and say "Well done!". And all the knowledge and information that I would have amassed till then, in my 8 long years of tenure here in the United States, and all the good appreciative things that I have learnt from the people here, and all the solid framework upon which this system rests, ever so firmly, all THAT I will take home and plant the seeds right in my backyard.

So that one day in the future, even if I'm still not around, from those seeds a protective canopy nurses the gashing wounds that currently plague our lands.

Concluding, hate and negativism is easy to breed, and each individual mind makes a difference in helping spread it. Encouragement is like achaar, just a little bit will make your meal taste so much better!

In all seriousness, I commend your intention going back to Nepal. Lot many people have concerns regarding economy and state of affairs of Nepal. I am pretty sure that you have analyzed those obvious concerns. Angst and frustrations will be the second thing that will markedly enshroud you. First being the joy, excitement and vigor to add a block to nation-building.

The quality of life wouldn't be same. However, I believe your quality within would be intact, although compromises may ask for bargain. Propagate the positive things you learned. DO SOMETHING-ATLEAST TRY.Having said that, I remember someone saying  'brain-drain is better than brain-in-drain'. Fight against all odds.

blind your one eye.. in Nepal there's 16 hours load -shedding.. so you don't need one eye for the night time.. and for the daytime, you can use the other eye..

You don't need both eyes, if you are going back to Nepal.

Almost every house have alternative power sources, mostly battery inverters and it works. As as NEA the load shedding will get better and in about two months there will be no load shedding at all.

My point is we can talk about the problems of Nepal likewise we can talk about the problems in US as well.

There are choices we make and prices we have to pay when we decide to live in one of the richest countries and vice versa.

I am in Nepal now after living in US for a very very long time, I do not want to return and the most important point is that I am happy here. Much happier than I had ever been in the mighty US of A.

Hats off to you Lasko. Don't listen to the fainthearts in sajha, do not change your best decision in life. America was never yours (ours), Nepal is always yours (ours). Anything you do being in Nepal, be it just surviving there is better than living a routine life in America, no matter what you do and how much you earn here. These selfish lots who brag about Nepal's durgati care for nothing more than their personal comforts. Somebody is risking his future and going back to his country morons! Let him go and do something in his own land.

If you could give a smallest portion of your achievement for the community, great. If not, you are one more addition to the educated Nepalis struggling in Nepal and that is already great.
