Breaking news: The long-awaited UN-backed trial of a former Khmer Rouge leader in Cambodia has opened at a Phnom Penh court, 30 years after the murderous regime fell.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7893138.stm

and WHO WERE THE KHMER ROUGE?

Maoist regime that ruled Cambodia from 1975-1979
Founded and led by Pol Pot, who died in 1998
Abolished religion, schools and currency in a bid to create agrarian utopia
up to two million people thought to have died from starvation, overwork or execution

are you sure nepal wont come under a similar situation like this in the near future?

It won't hapen in Nepal at that scale.. but it doesn't mean that Prachanda Baburam Mahara and Pahara are less guilty.

They all will be standing trail as well.. just a matter of time..

In fact, they are standing such trial in their mind .. that's why they are so scared that they are trying so hard to stay in the govt.. but that fear is constantly gnawing them deep inside....

being fair brother, how about gyanendra, whose direct autocratic rule was responsible for gross human right violation n who hijackd  basic civil liberties worst than commies. in fact our state's security bodies gained a reputation of dissapearing people the most in the world that nearly cost them the UN led peace missions which is also  main source of income generator for the servicemen and the nation. being the fourth highest contributor in UN peace missions it was shame to receive a warning as to strip off from such responsibilities n opportunities. stat shows after his direct rule the rate of killings rose up quite high, responsible for most of the casualties sustained in that official figure of 15K. had he not been running out of ammo due to military aid  sanctiond by india n US, the major providers of both lethal n non lethal military hardwares  n one of the russian MI-17 heli equipped with nightvision not crashed or gunned down  in sarlahi's clash, he was opting to crush the rebels by force that is by killing more people. i guess u  would hav very much justified his killings. yes, maoists did equally carry on many atrocities but it would b unfair if they r put in trial as those cambodian dudes but gyanedra, koirala  n other old folks the other party invloved in the war r to let go scott free.

n how about bush, whose false intellegence has led iraq war n cost so much lives with real intention of aquiring oil. and that dude watever his name is, should b reagan, responsible for raising n arming talibans with modern assualt rifles n above all providing them with FIM-92 Stinger missile launcher, decider armament in bringing down russian MI-24 heli gunship. now american force along with NATO fights the same guys n more killings. shouldnt they sit in the trial too.

peace brother....

In my own family, my Juwain Saheb is in high post of Nepal army and my
own Bhanja Babu was a Maoist supporter. It was very very hard time
during those insurgency period in Nepal. I loved them equally, but I
could never change their thoughts.

My Bhanja Babu was killed in
Rupandehi when he was playing with his friends by Nepal Army (he was
just a supporter). His body was not given because it was multiple
pieces. One of my classmate's son 9 years old in Syangja district went
to his Mama Ghar in Parbat and disappeared. My friend Dilli contacted
Nepal army for help thinking Maoist might captured him, but the little
boy was killed by army. The army returned his dead photo and told my
friend that he was Maoist supporter. There might be a lot of killing
and disappearance from the Maoist side, but the reality is the level of
silence killing and disappearance from the Nepal army is much and much
higher. In Doramba, 19 unarmed young boys were killed by the GASTY ARMY
by penetrating bullet from their KONCHET with their hands tied back,
they were never Maoist or Maoist supporter according to Manab Adhikar
Pratibedan. This type of killing is similar to the killing of 12
Nepalese in Iraq, too brutal and too heinus.

To tell the truth,
I am one of the Nepali who have experienced and seen the scenario from
the center. I lost my Bhanja Babu, but I can not hate my Juwain Saheb
too.

Peace...no more blame game please..
