hey have anyone given FE or PE exam in New York??. NY education department asked for transcript of bachelor's degree to be sent directly from college which our university in nepal don't do. They already got the master's level transcript form my university over here but are asking for transcript of bachelor's levels too. I told them that our university in nepal do not send such transcripts, we can have attested copies of transcripts only but they kept on saying that unless they get directly from university, I am not eligible for FE exam. Any people from NY have gone thru any process for FE/PE??

hey ark, I might be wrong but I was told in one of my engineering school you have to have an undergraduate (B.S) from an ABET accredited engineering school to take the FE. Unless you have that, I don't think can even take the FE. I assume you have a Master's from a U.S university, but I don't know if you have additional experience to apply for PE. I tried to look into this and here's a link with eligibility requirements I found for PE license in NY. http://www.engineering.cornell.edu/programs/undergraduate-education/license/eligibility.cfmFF

ya u r right, that's why they want to get transcript directly from trivubhan university so that they could determine the eligibility and of course it will be eligible. The problem is TU doesn't have provision of sending transcripts and these guys don't accept any other (attested or whatever). In other states, from my frens information, they don't ask for transcripts to be sent directly from university in Nepal once u have masters from US.

ark, every international students whose degree is not from ABET accredited schools need to go through this process. Some states allow to to take FE/PE if you have masters or higher degree from USA and some dont. NY may be one of those states which does nt allow you to take PE/FE unless you evaluate your foreign transcript and fulfill all other course requirements if required. students who graduated from Nepali or Indian engineering students with bachelors degree lacks 12-26 credits in humanities and basic sciences, however, they generally have 40 credits more than required in engineering classes. It is due to the fact that engineering schools in nepal and india focuses more into engineering courses and and the curriculum does not contain enough credits in humanities and basic sciences as they have in ABET curriculum. We do take basic science and maths in Isc or +2, however, they will not counted towards your bachelors degree while evaluating your transcripts. Now, regarding getting your transcripts from TU or KU, i am sure all the boards or evaluator accepts notorized copy of your transcripts send directly from registrar's office. Hope this helps.
