I got a placement in a Canadian University for PhD program in mechanical engineering. I have few questions, the professor told me that I will have to learn French as it is Quebec but told me that I can write my thesis in English. How much French is required to study in Quebec in trois rivers? Also, I will have to pay $2500 per year with $1500 stipend per month will that be enough to survive? I would like to hear from you guys.

If I were you, I would not go to a place, where I would have to learn a new language. But best of luck.

Montreal is virtually the only place in Canada that closely resembles competent standards. Provinces other than Quebec are for modern version of indentured workers.
